Review of Needful Things (1993) by Zane T — 20 May 2009
Granted, you don't have to slosh through 700 plus pages of prose just to read a story about the devil making New Englanders do bad things to each other, but the movie is not that good, probably because the ending is so anti-climatic and Ed Harris has the most extraneous exposition monologue in movie history.
It would have worked better if they had kept in Ace Merrill and the infamous Elvis picture part. Anyone whose read the book knows what I am talking about.
