Review of Need for Speed (2014) by Spencedawg B — 06 Mar 2016
Positives: car races and chases.
Negatives: pretty much everything else.
The plot will always be an afterthought in a film like this, and this was very much the case in Need for Speed. It wasn't so much outrageous as it was boring. Perhaps if it had a more over-the-top storyline, similar to a Fast & Furious film, then it would have been capable of holding interest in between the action set pieces. It felt as though the characters were thrust upon the audience hoping that they would be taken to heart as if they had been known for years. Yet the poor character development throughout the film made it difficult to care at all for any of the characters.
The three and a half star rating is for the stunt scenes alone, which should be given credit due to the minimal amount of CGI that was used.
