Review of Need for Speed (2014) by Ren B — 01 Sep 2014

What I loved about this movie is that it was simple. They didn't create cars that defy every law of physics (like Fast and Furious does). The characters were simple but they didn't need to be overly entertaining. I thought the dialogue between them was comical. I hated that Pete died so early. I enjoyed his lack of a filter. I love that they didn't resort to CGI to make crazy jumps or unrealistic car physics. Yes, the jump across the highway would've destroyed the Mustang but that was still not over the top. I would've liked to have seen more police between New York and L.A. but it was still exciting.

I read one "critics" post about how Tobey was the best driver and in the fastest Mustang ever but couldn't outrun a truck. This just tells me that they didn't watch the movie or they've never actually raced anything, ever. The only truck that "they can't outrun" was on a dirt road with Julia driving. If you've ever driver a real wheel drive, lowered, high horse power car on dirt with street tires on it, then you'd realize really quickly that you won't outrun even the simplest 4x4 truck. The "token black guy" as the other critic pointed out jumped from airplane to helicopter, etc. He states every time where he got the aircraft from and they even stated at the start of the trip, they had a plan. I can only imagine that this plan contained information as to how to navigate the skies as well as the road. Last note on the other critic, the friend who takes off all of his clothes when he quits his job. He obviously hated his job and wanted to make the trip with his friends. He explains as he walks out of the building that "he wanted to make sure he couldn't come back to that job." Pay attention to the movie if you're going to criticize it.

My final thoughts are this. Was I expecting the greatest movie ever? No. Was I entertained? Yes.

I rate movies two ways:

Would I watch it again? Or not?

I would watch Need for Speed again. Bitch!!!
