Review of Need for Speed (2014) by Mark-Kyle R — 08 Nov 2015
Who do you make a movie out of a computer/console game about illegal street racing?
The answer, according to this, is to hang a bare-bones revenge plot on to all the car scenes - a plot that sees ex-con Tobey Marshall (who only becomes a con about 40-odd minutes in after a disastrous street race) trying to clear his name via an underground race that (of course) also happens to include the man who framed him.
Somewhat ironically for a film about fast cars, this can feel a little slow at times, and suffers somewhat in the inevitable comparisons to the Fast and Furious franchise.
