Review of Neds (2007) by Jamie R — 28 Jan 2011
My first impressions of this film as I walked past the poster was, "Not another hooligan film". Neds is a hooligan film, but a hooligan film in a different league to the Cockney ones staring Danny Dyer.
Conor McCarron is superb in his role of a schoolboy caught up with a gang of thugs in this coming of age story. The final 45 minutes, in my opinion, breaks down the foundations the first hour and fifteen set so well.
What started off as very believable quickly became farcical. Over all Neds is very watchable but the script could be easily improved. Comparable to This Is England but Neds failure in its final third lets it down.
