Review of Neds (2007) by Rob L — 03 Feb 2011
Robert De Niro is wanting to try and release this film in America. And I cannot blame him. This is a well-made, well-acted, well-written film about scottish youth. Peter Mullen gives the raw, brutal tone that the film sets out for through not only the setting, but the characters as well, which is also helped by the outstanding performances as well.
Some of the scenes in it are brilliant, there's a great balance of drama and black comedy and the dialogue feels authentic. Though it does drag out a little and it does take a while to get right into the actualy story, this is a great piece of scottish cinema.
And trust me, I don't say that often.
