This film got a decent review from both "Fangoria" and "Horror Hound" so I thought I'd give it a chance. The reviewers must have seen a different cut of the film than I saw.

A group of friends head off to spend a week at a cabin built where the Donner Party met their fate. They are tepidly warned to stay away by Michael Berryman and of course they ignore his warnings. Once they reach the cabins they head out on snowmobiles, except for one girl who falls down in about two feet of snow and has to be rescued. Another in the party sees a strange girl who tells him to go away, but SURPRISE she's not really there. Was she a ghost or is he just having another psychotic episode?

When the men find the caretaker dead in the snow, they realized there's a problem. But they can't get down the mountain because of the awful weather! We know it's bad because they keep mentioning the storm, although it's clear there are only a few flakes drifting by the windows. The next day, there is a whopping three inches of snow on the cars, apparently far too much to try to drive to town. So two characters find the caretaker's snow cat and go for help. The are never seen again.

The crazy guy continues to get crazier and the single guy keeps trying to score with the single girl. We find out that since the Donner incident, someone has gone Jack Torrence in that location about every 25 years. We learn this from a collection of newspaper clippings, although nobody explains whose been keeping this scrapbook or how they found actual newspapers to cut up from the late 1800s.

For a long time, nobody dies and everybody stumbles over the ridiculous dialogue. Then suddenly people die and the movie ends with no resolution. The good thing is that the film is so poor we don't actually care what happens to the survivors. Live or die, whatever. The acting is painfully bad and the plot had promise but ultimately did not deliver. It's not over-the-top ridiculous enough for SyFy and not so-bad-it's-good. Treat it like yellow snow and just leave it lying where you found it.
