Review of Near Dark (1987) by Craig E — 04 Jan 2008
I expected more, which is probably why I was disappointed overall. As a vampire movie, it is still very unique and has its moments. Its biggest problem is its complete disregard for time and distance, jumping from the middle of the night to morning in minutes several times through the film and having people cross incredible distances in no time at all, most of the time on foot.
That's not even mentioning the "cure" which is very, very weak story telling. If you watch it, don't expect much and you may be able to savor the tongue-in-cheek nature. But, if you are looking for a serious vampire movie, there are plenty better than this.
