Review of Near Dark (1987) by Matthew W — 19 Nov 2008
Near Dark starts out really well. Adrain Pasdar's portrayal of the horny but naive cowboy is phenomenal. The vampire and western genres blend well together. The cinematography beautifully portrays dark shadows and dusty daylight.
Unfortunately there is little character or story development, which might be forgivable if it wasn't for the fact that the film takes a turn for the worst when it defies myth and logic with a blood transfusion that cures vampirism.
Overall the film is watchable, but slightly frustrating.
