Review of Near Dark (1987) by Nelson P — 29 Sep 2010
An almost flawless vampire movie. Never has a movie about vampires been done so graciously and realistic. One of the strongest parts of this movie is that it doesn't bombard you with mythology or folklore its a straightforward horror movie that happens to have some vampires in it, almost works better as a re-telling of the Manson Family.
It was interesting to see how much Katheryn Bigelow has grown as director and screen writer, but even her early work is as respectable as the Hurt Locker.
