Review of Nazis at the Center of the Earth (2012) by Russ V — 31 May 2012
Another addition to the new wave of Nazis exploitation in 2012 and it's actually good. Now when I say 'Good' I mean 'Bad', but in a good way. The idea itself is atrocious, the acting is horrendous and the script reeks of cheese! The good points that I'm leaning to with this film is that it has the makings of becoming a classic trashy B-movie. There were a few stand out scenes involving make up and digital effects that I found to be quite potent. Also it's just so damn fun to watch a film and make fun of it. The MST3k crew needs to riff on this film if they ever get the chance.
The story is quite simple: A team of "scientists" find a Nazis base under the ice in Antarctica. They're experimented on and the head Nazis is kind of a Leatherface enthusiasts. This all leads to the resurrection of Hitler himself by way of giving him a robotic body. It's Night of the Living Dead Hitler Robot! AHHHH! Run for your Fucking Lives! Oh and there's Jake Busey.
You can thank the good people at Asylum for producing this extraordinary film! They dabble mostly in ripping off Hollywood films by making crappy one's like this. This is supposedly a knock off of 'Iron Sky'. Just because there are Nazis in it doesn't mean it's knock off! Now 'American Warships' is a knockoff of 'Battleship', but if we had to get right down to the complete and utter obvious it would have to be the film '11-11-11'. Not only did Asylum rip off that movie, but they also used the exact same title. All the did was change it from '11-11-11' to '11/11/11'. And guess what? They're even coming out with a knockoff of 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'. Instead of Vampires, old Abe will be messing with Zombies! Ha Ha!
Love 'em or Hate 'em, I'm actually kind of enjoying this Asylum crew of misfits. Now if they decide to produce a knockoff of 'Harry and the Hendersons' I might just have to kill them all....just...just might.
