Putin must be tired of these films exposing his dark secrets. 'Navalny' is an essential testimony of how freedom of speech is the most important ingredient of democracy. Unexpectedly, this documentary is hilarious, portraying the top figure in the Russian opposition in a light-hearted way.
Daniel Roher, of course, barely touches the controversial links between Alexei Navalny and the far right, but at least it doesn't shy away from addressing it. In the end, 'Navalny' is a good piece of filmmaking that showcases the power of real journalism and the sparkle that could change an entire country.
