Review of Natural Born Killers (1994) by Rachael H — 13 Mar 2011
Wow, this director. I wonder what was going through his mind when he got the script for this film. A crazy film, especially visually and of course by moral and message. Celebrity mass-muderers - kind of a taboo subject. Crazy. I enjoyed this movie, if only the last twenty minutes - which were brilliant.
This is the first character Robert Downey Jr has played that I liked watching. The mix of comedy and horror he brings at the ending is perfect. Joining in the killing, the one liners and the reporting. For that alone, the movie gets classed as 'good'.
Other bits of the movie I liked were the sitcom-like scenes and darkly dream sequences. it made it very weird. A lot more violence than I normally care to see and the natural born killers themselves are irritating but very complex and interesting characters. Frighteningly so.
....Ah, Tarantino was the screenwriter - alas, violence .he's one crazy dude, whose style I don't normally like. This was so mental and....absorbing.
