Review of Natural Born Killers (1994) by Dodds D — 01 Jan 2014
Oliver Stone directs a Tarantino script. Mickey and Mallory are basically a Bonnie and Clyde type criminals who go on a cross country killing spree while the media goes into a frenzy trying to cover them.
No different than real life. This is interesting and a good satire of what actually happens, I just feel the message becomes secondary once the films starts going into over stylization. Scenes go from Super 8 type look, to black and white, to tinting.
It really starts to get on your nerves when scenes seem to hop back and forth between the styles. Tommy Lee Jones and Downey Jr. are great in their small but overblown character types. Would have loved to see Tarantino take a shot at this script instead of Stone, but it is what it is.
