Review of Natural Born Killers (1994) by Xcv V — 06 Oct 2010
What can you say about this movie?
Woody Harrelson & Juliette Lewis are leading probably one of the strangest films in Oliver Stone's filmography, Originally a story wrote by Quentin Tarintino based upon an actual couple who where murderers, Natural Born Killers is both a disturbing and amazing depiction of how the media glorifies violence.
Woody is always phenomenal in these kind of roles, Juliette had impressed me in "From Dusk Till Dawn", the late but great Rodney Dangerfield is always welcome, Robert Downey Jr. always carries the film forward and after seeing how incredible Tommy Lee Jones plays law in "The Fugitive", you can only imagine how amazing he plays Warden.
And the plot of this movie? technically it's your basic OMG Mindfuck all throughout the movie with some very disturbing and surreal visuals that come up in the forms of Snakes, Rotting food and Old sitcoms, which may put you off first, but if you can get through films like "Audition", you can definately get through this flick.
My favourite aspect of this movie though, is of course the social commentary, The media ALWAYS blow things out of proportion and near enough at the end of this movie some small part of you will end up thinking that the wrong way is the right way.
Final Verdict: Definately a watch, Stone definatley deliver's this controversial tale with both caution and respect to great payoff, but also some part of you would like to have seen Tarintino take a shot at it.
