Review of Natural Born Killers (1994) by Jim M — 29 Mar 2012
Harrowing but brilliantly put together, and every year it seems more prophetic. The everything-but-the-kitchen-sink visual style (Stone admits he was doing mushrooms while filming) added to the in-your-face violence make it tough but rewarding.
Get any of the DVD packages to see how many remarkable sequences they didn't have time for. The Screen Actors Guild wanted to kick Rodney Dangerfield out for not being a "real" actor - he deserved an Oscar nomination for the "I Love Lucy" opening and an exceptionally crafted performance.
The question remains - why do we nearly always know more about the assassins than their victims?
