Review of Nativity! (2009) by Mandy W — 13 Dec 2009
Set your cheese-rays to maximum stun. Everything about this film is drizzled in pungent British West Country Farmhouse Mature cheddar - and at any other time of year I would've hurled abuse and vomit at it.
Martin Freeman and his co-stars have pulled off the kind of mainstream Brit-com film that I would normally despise, but I saw it at a moment when it was all too easy to pull on my stupid heartstrings and only because it's Christmas, I (almost) loved it.
I am not proud. In the cold light of day I know this is codswallop - it's portrayal of teachers, support assistants and pupils is about as accurate as that famous Michael Fish weather report, but isn't a total lack of accuracy what we like about films like this at this time of year?
