Review of National Velvet (1945) by Jeff B — 06 Feb 2013
Pretty good family film starring a very young Elizabeth Taylor who falls in love with a horse and trains it for a national race. A very young Mickey Rooney is a drifter that decides to help Taylor with the horse.
It's a harmless movie with some nice moments and an impressve race as the climax at the film. But the real treasures of this film ar Anne Revere (in her Oscar winning role) and Donald Crisp as Taylor's parents.
They are so perfect together and are really the heart of the story, they alone are reason enough to see the movie. Along with a very young Angela Lansbury, this is a great feel good movie.
