Review of National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) by Vanessa G — 13 Jul 2012
Far to much like the original. National Treasure: Book of Secrets barrows heavily from 2004s National Treasure. The plot points are so similar, even some of the lines are the same. Nevertheless this movie is still very enjoyable.
Ben Gates is back in this one. He is now searching for the city of Cibola, the city of gold. A man named Mitch Wilkinson is also trying to find the treasure, to make his mark on history. Along the way, Ben is reunited with his ex-girlfriend Abigail, and his mom Emily.
Nicolas Cage returns as Ben, as does Justin Bartha as Riley. They are both great, and really have their characters down. Diane Kruger returns as Abigail, she once again does well. The supporting cast consists of Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, Ed Harris, and Helen Mirren. Needless to say the cast is fantastic.
Overall this is a good movie. Way to much like the first, but it is a lot of fun.
"And because you're the President of the United States, sir. Whether by innate character or the oath you took to defend the Constitution or the weight of history that falls upon you, I believe you to be an honorable man." 6.5/10.
