Review of National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002) by Adrian B — 17 Mar 2011
A friend recommended this film to me, and perhaps he will still be my friend after I express my opinion towards him on this inept reel dog. This movie is so stupid. It is one laboured, toilet-humour gag after another about a deranged title character dimwit (awkward Ryan Reynolds) who has lasted at the same post-secondary institution for seven years.
The film is sex, diarhea, and college filled with idiots. Reynolds cast as the main character is embarassing. He looks dumb-struck in every scene of the film and the dialogue is so juvenile. This was obviously one of many, many ridiculous comedies to surface after the millenium.
I think the point of this film is to expose the fact that Ryan Reynolds is a hunk who made it onto "Men's Health Magazine" and a laughless film resulted. My friend must have been on crack while viewing it, and from the sounds of things, I think he has viewed it a few times.
One would say rehab is needed.
