Review of National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) by Senor C — 13 Aug 2010
A comedy classic when the National Lampoon monarch actually meant something. Chevy Chase's family road trip to hell is by far is best movie. This is one of the first movies that I saw on home video & it's been a favorite of mine for many years & watching it now again I still laugh @ it even though I know it verbatim.
A great cast w/ Beverly D'Angelo as Chase's wife who stuck w/ him through three sequels & Anthony Michael Hall & Dana Barron as the best Rusty & Audrey of the series but it's Randy Quaid who really add; he's fucking hilarious.
Plus there's an early appearance of John Candy. Written when John Hughes was in his comedic prime & SCTV alumni director Harold Ramis knows comedy. It almost stands up there w/ the absolute greats like Animal House, Blues Brothers & Caddyshack but not quite.
Maybe if we actually got to see Christie Brinkley naked.
