What you must, must give to Gene Guintano and the writers of this movie is their unflinching attention to detail. They really manage to spoof the cop drama from its head to its toes. For instance, they lampoon the lavish apartments of movie cops with Emilio Estevez's apartment.
He walks in and there are Greek columns mixed with zebra skin rugs and modern furniture. In the same scene, he mixes a ridiculously huge drink complete with chocolate syrup. Of course, Estevez's character is a great guilt/grief-ridden cop who mirrors Mel Gibson brilliantly.
