Review of National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985) by Dann M — 03 Feb 2013
The Griswalds head for the Continent in National Lampoon's European Vacation. After winning the grand prize of a game show, the Griswald family goes on a whirlwind European vacation. There are a few interesting cameos from John Astin and Eric Idle, but overall the cast isn't that good this time.
The writing is also rather weak and isn't able to bring the level of satire and wit that the first film did. There are some fun bits of humor here and there, but most of the film consists of random, bizarre antics that don't really add up to anything.
National Lampoon's European Vacation is broad and cartoonish comedy that doesn't have anything significant to say and lacks heart.
