Review of Nashville (1975) by Jon G — 10 Jan 2008
Behold, the American dream! Robert Altman, arguably one of the most important filmmakers of his generation, gives us this brilliant work about the lives of two dozen people in the country music capital of the world.
In this cinematic masterpiece we meet musicians, politicians, housewives, womanizers, reporters, hippies, junkies and the like who each have their moment to shine. Not one piece of this precious mosaic feels out of place.
The music, performances, story and direction are all superb. In a career as prolific as Altman's, this may be his finest work.
