Review of Nashville (1975) by Alec B — 15 Apr 2013
A pleasant enough film, but with the usual cast of simi-sleeze events that Hollywood seems to think is regular life. There is a comfortable feeling that Altman achieves, making the movie watchable, but not outstanding.
What was outstanding to me, and really wonderful, was the singing of Ronee Blakley as Barbara Jean - amazing stuff. What a pro.(Spoiler) The nonsensical ending, with it's gratuitous violence, was a cheap shot.
For me, Altman is always a mixed blessing...
