Review of Nashville (1975) by Adrian B — 26 Dec 2010
"Nashville" is an oddity of a film, and that is not a bad thing. The film, as to my understanding, follows the lives of those part of the Nashville music industry (huge ensemble cast) at the time of the presidential election.
The music in the film is quite strong, with a number of actors, except Gwenn Welles (oh dear!), showing off their strong vocal talent. There are some very nice songs within the movie and some very funny bits, including Gwenn Welles's singing talent.
The two problems with the film are the plot and the length. It could have been trimmed a bit and a little more understandable in parts, because it was a very hard to follow. However, the music talents and the acting, which is phenominally natural, are pretty good, and that saves the movie.
