Review of Narc (2002) by Jonathan D — 14 Jun 2007
Before Joe Carnahan went all over-the-top with "Smokin' Aces," he made one of the grittiest cop movies of all time. It manages to be as harsh as "Bad Lieutenant" without ever falling into that film's trap of self parody.
It is as real as "Training Day" wanted to be, showing many of the forgotten struggles detectives, particularly narcotics detectives, go through. A superb debut, can't wait to see what Carnahan does with "White Jazz.
