Sanaa Lathan, Lynn Whitfield, and Ernie Hudson.

Violet Jones strives for perfection particularly around her hair. She has a loving boyfriend but after learning he doesn't want marriage she goes down a road of change. Each style changes as well as her personality.

Lathan is wonderful here struggling to find the happy part of herself she loves but everyone else is missing. The film takes a look at how black women are viewed by their hair. How they have to be perfectly groomed. And how changing it affects people's opinions.

Do men want a woman with long hair?

Are women like a puzzle: take apart the pieces of themselves and put them back together.

Every woman has to own their hair style.

We don't let someone's negative opinion become your reality.

Wigs and weaves make up 70% of consumer products yet women claim it to be more manageable.

There is such a thing as natural beauty. Protecting the hair is better than destroying it.

A very good Netflix film about the many phases, pressures, and styles not just women of color but all women have to go through.
