Review of Napoleon Dynamite (2004) by Kali K — 18 Nov 2012
Part of the reason that people "don't get this movie" is because there are a lot of Americans that do not understand dry humor. It is primarily a cultural phenomenon. Most American television shows and films do not employ it, so some misunderstand it and find it soporific.
The same proposition applies to British humor. That being said, I love almost everything about this film. It is an exceedingly rare type of American comedy that somehow manages to be completely bizarre and humorous at the same time.
Simple in approach but perplexing in entry, "Napoleon Dynamite" still endures as a peculiar but timeless entry to the Comedy field. Some may not enjoy it for these reasons, but I certainly do.
