The greatness of this film is how its able to make you identify with Nanook and his family. Their contentment and happiness (yes, it was staged, but the emotions captured are very genuine) despite the harsh conditions they have to live with are endearing and infectious.
'Nanook' died two months after this movie was released, and the news headlined front pages around the world.
