Review of Nanny McPhee (2005) by Francisca M — 01 Sep 2009
An absolutely adorable movie that should've been longer and show more of the "dark" side of Nanny McPhee. The concept was really good and reminiscent of Mary Poppins (without the music). I enjoyed the simplicity of the plot and adorable quality of the film.
It wasn't too magical. It was just enough. I wish we saw more of the children's journey to their lessons but in all, it was nice. Also, McPhee's appearance changed with their lessons. It was sweet.
Emma Thompson has a charming quality about her. I loved her Jane Austen movies and enjoyed this story. Colin Firth is always fabulous as a father and he's such a charming man. Well done.
