Review of Nanking (2007) by Andrew H — 14 May 2008
Interesting perspective: a documentary with real footage of the events and interviews with survivors intertwined with actors portraying the people who saved lives during the Nanking Massacre. This is well done and a great adaptation of the book.
It's hard to watch because of the brutality of the events (along the lines of the Pianist or Schindler's List) but definitely something in history that has not gotten its just dues. To see the survivors' emotions during their stories actually makes it more powerful than the book.
