Review of Nanking (2007) by Kaonashi ( — 22 Jan 2008
Truly a powerful film experience. First hand accounts by Chinese survivors, and chilling testimonies of Japenese soldiers in the invasion of Nanking, China where over 250,000 civilians were killed, and over 10,000 young girls and women raped.
Nanking a WWII forgotten holocaust. The footage, and interviews are then intertwined with stage actors reading the letters and diaries of a group of unarmed westerners who established a saftey zone, in which more than 200,000 Chinese sought refuge.
This is that story, and only part of the mass struggle that happened there. The film, and interviews, is reminder of how evil people can be to one another, but also how courageous one can be when met with adversity.
Even in the darkest of times there is light.
