Review of Nancy Drew (2007) by Naisha G — 02 Jun 2008
This movie is adorable, and stands as more proof of the soullessness of critics. Emma is by far the most charming member of the Roberts family. Daniella Monet is also super-cute, and has the advantage of being legal in all territories. There isn't nearly enough Rachael Leigh Cook in movies these days, and that complaint applies here, too.
Another problem: any girl like Nancy Drew who suddenly appeared in a modern high school would have suitor and stalkers drooling all over her by 3rd period. But Mean Girls wanted us to imagine that Lindsay Lohan was a social outcast, and the old RLC classic She's All That wanted us to pretend that ponytails and glasses can obscure hotness, so it's pretty much par for the course at this point.
