Review of Nancy Drew (2007) by Frida D — 17 Oct 2008
I wasn't sure what rating to give this - on the one hand - this was NOT Nancy Drew as I knew her - it was a fine teen detective flick - but really had nothing to do with Nancy Drew. They should have just called it something else.
Nancy's character was entirely wrong etc - yet on the other hand - I think this was the film's creators having a private joke with their audience - because the Nancy Drew books did span over quite a few decades starting in the 40's I think - so the whole joke abt Nancy being very old-fashioned and the contrast between her ways and that of 21st century LA was interesting - but I still think Nancy Drew over the times has blended seamlessly into whatever era she is in - the juxtaposition was more Hollywood and less Nancy Drew.
