Review of Nancy (2018) by Eric H — 22 Jun 2018
This movie is a waste of time and talent. What is frustrating is that they squandered their actors, never giving them any opportunity to actually act. The writers undermined scene after scene avoiding any interesting content as though they were afraid the actors would be unable to do anything.
It is a monotone film of apathy. While "sad" and "depressed" would be the feelings most likely associated with "Nancy," I cannot credit any real feeling to the movie. It is simply too lazy, apathetic, and devoid of humanity.
I am not familiar with the writers, directors, and producers, but it is my guess that this is a vanity project of talentless though connected individuals who are stuck in a misguided art school mentality of inflated self importance.
Nancy is without humanity and true feeling and I feel that this film borders on insulting by its emotional unintelligence and laziness towards its own content. And what is up with the horrible wig worn by Nancy? It is laughably ridiculous.
And worse yet the make-up artists forgot to have continuity of a facial scar on Nancy. The lack of energy given to the film to me in an indication of the creators' inflated egotism. Yuck.
