Review of Naked Lunch (1991) by Bruno V — 23 Dec 2011
Like many of Cronenberg's films, "Naked Lunch" contains multiple psychological subtexts and must be interpreted allegorically in order for anything to be gained from the... viewing experience.
I think most fans of Cronenberg often have a two-fold reaction to his films: 1. they delight in his rich, almost ornamented cinematic style & 2. his settings, which often taking place more on a psychological plane than a physical one, are not environments where one wishes to remain for too long.
All in all, "Naked Lunch" is strange, disturbing, but engaging nonetheless.
