Review of Nadja (1995) by Kylie U — 05 Jul 2009
A David Lynch film and therefore arty and bizarre. At times the black-and-white footage works well and there are snippets of some really nice imagery, but I didn't like the whole film being void of colour.
Videohound states that this 'emphasizes the dark world in which vampires operate' but I prefer the Interview With The Vampire imagery of it heightening the senses and that just doesn't work with this medium, you also miss the red of the blood which I enjoy.
.. maybe a black-and-white film where the only colour is the blood would work? The Portishead songs fit well with Nadja's character and made me want to dig out their albums as I haven't listened to them for a while.
Peter Fonda as Van Helsing is quite mad and reminded me of Sexy Goldfish!
