Review of Mystic River (2003) by Michael T — 20 Sep 2010
I really don't like this movie and not because of the ending.
What really makes this movie bad is it's screenplay itself. All the time while I was watching this film it seemed that every twist was put there without any thinking of it's meaning. It seamed that whole story was an experiment of putting various actions and seeing how they will work. The ending itself seemed rushed. And the scenes between Kevin Bacon's character and his ex was hilarious and completely unnecessery.
The direction also wasn't good. It seemed that every scene was filmed just to be filmed. I haven't find any true relation between actors and scenes. Also worsening relation between Tim Robbins character and his wife seemed total nonscence. Whole film I was wondering why she married him, because the was no chemistry between them. She looked more like his stepmother.
In the end I find this film mocking at it's viewers(perhaps not intentionally) by trying to portray perhaps unfinished and because of that souless dumb story in serious manner.
It's a B movie.
