Review of Mystic River (2003) by Brendan D — 30 Jun 2011
Great performances, solid plot, some parts quite touching. What keeps me from calling this a great movie is the last scene! After the plot has already unfolded, the wife has this scene with Penn's character, her husband.
We have not gotten any previous development in her character, and all of a sudden she's seducing her husband out of his guilt and telling him he could 'run this town' (something along the lines of that*) Why Clint threw this bizarre development/hint that Penn's character would commit more criminal acts doesn't make sense and I feel was a poor choice.
