Review of Mystic River (2003) by Stephen R — 14 Aug 2011
A bleak, depressing portrait of an Irish neighborhood centered on the murder of a teenaged girl. Sean Penn and Tim Robbins, deserving of their Oscars, anchor a fine cast in a taut mystery directed by bad-actor-turned-great-director Clint Eastwood.
Near perfect and achingly poignant with the exception of some questionable scenes in the final reel.
