Incomparable Acting from Sean Penn and Tim Robbins who still manage to shine amongst the powerful supporting cast of Kevin Bacon, Laurence Fishburne, Laura Linney and Marcia Gay Harden. An acting masterclass, but also a culmination of Eastwood's directorial skills which come through with this Painfully beautiful adaption of Lehane's novel, complimented with haunting music and artful camerawork.
