Review of Mystery Team (2009) by Tony O — 26 May 2010
"Mystery Team" is a silly, fun movie. The creators of this film are the comedy group called Derrick Comedy. Their most notable works, which include "Bro Rape" and "Jerry", can be seen on Youtube. "Mystery" is their movie debut and with that in mind, this film is not bad.
The characters are entertaining and the premise of the movie (Encyclopedia Brown plus college humor) is pretty much the hook. Even though I laughed at some bits, there are times during the movie that feel like a skit running too long. Donald Glover's performance is the best part of the movie and it was the main reason why I impulsively bought this movie. I wouldn't recommend anyone else buying it, but it's decent enough to rent on a boring ass day.
