Review of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996) by John B — 10 Aug 2008

Should we be seeing this? Really this only gets any rating based on sheer comedy. Production is poor, and there is nothing to it, other than outrightly making fun of a terrible old movie. But I have never laughed that hard at a movie. Ever.

If you think about watching it, just push past the opening. It is fine, and sets up what MST3K ultimately is, but we nearly turned it off. Luckily we pushed through to the screening of This Island Earth and the absolute gut-wrenching hilarity that ensued. Seriously, we had to REWIND the movie at several points because we were laughing so hard we missed significant portions.
