Review of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996) by Hugh J — 14 May 2009
Humor is largely based on the act of parody. Parody of behavior, parody of situation, parody of life.
Most comedies will create their own worlds to parody but MST: 3000 largely forgoes that basic step and rips into the already established, and rife for riffing, "This Island Earth," to the fantastic benefit of this movie.
Comedy is boiled down to its most fundamental elements and carefully injected into the host film creating a wonderfully raw, and fantastically funny, experience that you cannot miss if you enjoy any sort of a laugh, chuckle, giggle, or other involuntary noise of pleasure that is publicly acceptable.
