The movie they make fun of, This Island Earth, isn't really that bad, and probably doesn't deserve to be made fun of. Still, by today's sci-fi fans' standards, it might seem a bit dated and slow.
.. which is exactly why the riffs by Mike and the 'bots make this movie (and every other movie they've ever shown on the TV show) much more bearable to watch.
