Review of Mystery Road (2013) by Huw G — 24 Nov 2013
Firstly, it's good, one not to be missed. It is a genre film, both Noire and Western, but an unapologetically contemporary Australian take on them. Slow-burning, hot, dusty, and beautifully filmed - hardly an imperfect shot at all.
The acting and scripting weren't quite as close to flawless, but these still comparatively minor weaknesses don't take the edge off it too much, especially when compared with most Australian movies.
