Review of Mystery Road (2013) by Matthew S — 17 Mar 2014
Beautifully shot, minimalist "outback" murder thriller which follows the slow burn of an indigenous detective who is looked down upon by his colleagues and resented by his own community for being a cop.
There's no music in this film, which is a lesson in how to tell a compelling story without the usual frills. Performed by an excellent cast including a menacing Hugo Weaving and Ryan Kwanten as a predatory racist.
