Review of Mystery Men (1999) by Robert T — 25 Jan 2009

It has been a while since I saw any clips or preview for this film. I remembered the trailers that aired on television, but never really got the chance to view the film in its entirety. Now that I did, I was quite surprised.

I thought the film was supposed to be fun and amusing, but sadly, it wasn't. Honestly, I felt the film was annoying, confusing, and to an extent, boring. The film's story and plot was interesting, but it was badly executed.

The film's cast was alright -- each brought their uniqueness to their characters, but the problem I had was the character themselves. I did not understand any of them. Probably it was the lack of character development, but I was not interested in any of the characters whatsoever.

Most, I felt, were just random. After doing some research on the film, I seemed the film was based on a comic book. Though I have not read the comic book, after viewing this film, I don't know if I really want to.

The film's CGI animation was a little dull -- even for 1999. I have seen better ones in films that were released years before this film. Overall, the film could have been better. The annoying bickering between each of the characters made me lose my interest in the film itself.

One thing I felt was positive was the film's theatrical poster -- it looked cool.
