Review of Mystery, Alaska (1999) by Trevor C — 26 Jan 2009
This is a great underdog story in which the underdog actually loses. In place of a karate kid-ish "try your best, believe, and you will win" this movie has a "try your best, believe, and you will still lose, but you'll better understand your place in the world as a simple hockey town and you like it that way.
Besides, the New York Rangers are a professional hockey team and we gave them the advantage by building an ice rink, so there." Add some adult language to keep the kids away from being exposed to a slightly more realistic plot than The Mighty Ducks D3 and a pretty enjoyable movie.
